Thanksgiving Special

This coming Saturday we’ll play a 500 point Golden with two special rules:
1. No theme bonuses will be allowed. Powers etcetera that function off of keyword are fine.
2. In honor of Thanksgiving and the effects of too much turkey, any attack using Incap gets a +1 to the attack value.

Practice match,  need to tweak our teams a little.

Here is my weekly team report.

600 point golden age team played on Nov 20th.  This team was not bad, and was 2-1.  One was from a forfeit, but .......  It was fun to play and Imperiex is tough, with a few boosts to his defense.

AA046 Lyssa Drak
CD023 Dr. Mid-Nite

Andrew won this Saturday's event.  3-0
I went 2-1.

The Fantastic Four team I used was very good, with some interesting abilities.  The Thing has the ability to remove action tokens from up to 2 adjacent figures.  Mr. Fantastic can use perplex and modify any combat value + or - 2.  Bombastic Bagman will deal damage equal to the damage he takes.  Storm can add +1 to range and damage.  And if any of the Fantastic Four is KOed, you can heal any figure using that team ability 1 click of health.

So the sum of these figures used together is more then if used as individuals.

Happy Clicking

Upcoming 1000 point silver age team.  Hmmmmm.  Andrew has a great team and I have nothing.  My team has changed 5 times in the past 2 days and I hope by 5 pm today I can come up with something.  I have thought about Herald Theme, X-Force theme, Animals, brute, X-Men, and cosmic.  Each team would be a blast to play and when I finally decide on which team to play I will post it, and include a video review.

On a related note, Ryan (a local player) has been talking about expanding the stuff he and I do on YouTube.  He actually was the one who got me interested in doing YouTube vids.

Here is his link, Glass Cabinet Films  Stay tuned for some new and exciting stuff.

W:2 L:1
2nd place

My team did very well last week. The first team i played against was a Super boy, Eradicator, and Clark Kent team. I dominated in that match.

The second team I played against was Cave Carson, Mister Miracle and Oberon, Blue Beetle and Booster Gold, and Animal Man team. The Bat-Man was knocked out late in he game, but he did his job. Mister Miracle and Oberon gave me the most trouble, but I was able to over come the 20 defense to win.

My last match was against my older brother who is down in Florida for the weekend. He was playing a double Supermen team. He went two games without any figure dying. He easily KO'ed Flash and Bats then knocked my Earth One Superman to his last click. I hypersoniced and hit one superman for five penetrating damage, knocking him out and picking up another object. He pushed to hit me and missed. I pushed to try and KO the second Superman, but I missed and KO'ed myself.

Finished 3rd place this weekend with my 300 Point team

I have decided that Imperiex is a BEAST and will have a video review up soon for him.  My only loss came against a Superman X2 team.

Next week we have a 600 point Modern age event and have a beast of a team lined up, and will review soon

Black Adam/JSA team
This week I went 3-0 for the fist time. This also marks the first time I came in first in competition. The MVP was definitely Black Adam. Every figure I KO'ed was by Black Adam. The trick was having him as the big target and perplexing up his defense to a 20 or 21 most of the time.

The first team I played was against Super Girl, Cyborg Superman, Super Boy, and Steel. Black Adam knocked Super Boy out in one turn, then crushed Steel in two turns. Cyborg Superman KO'ed Batman and afterwards Black Adam demolished Super Girl then destroyed Cyborg Superman.

The second game was against Metallo, Kyptonite Man, Lex Luthor, Bruno M., and Intergang Underboss. That game was close, Black Adam knocked out Metallo and Intergang Underboss and I lost The Atom and Mr. Terrific.

The third game was the closest of the night, I played against Phoenix, Emma Frost, Iceman, and Cyclops. The game ended with Black Adam and Batman fighting Phoenix. The prize I won was the manhunter grandmaster. We will have a review of him later.

Doomsday 600 Point Team

This team went 2-1 this Saturday

Lost first match, might have won on points if I did not focus on Phoenix

297 GX047 Phoenix
110 GX008 Cyclops
81 GX011 Emma Frost
104 GX038 Iceman
4 CAS101 Scorpio Key
599 Total

2nd match was a win.  Doomsday picked them appart one at a time.

200 SM010 Supergirl
130 SM018 Steel
125 SM017 Superboy
140 SM034 Cyborg Superman
595 Total

3rd was a close win that came down to the wire.  Doomsday proved to be too much for Metallo and Lex

182 BB033 Metallo
160 BN002 Lex Luthor
121 BB032 Kryptonite Man
90 SM020 Bruno Mannheim
45 SM004 Intergang Underboss
598 Total

Upcoming 600 point Modern Age Event.

I went through our inventory and found a few figures that have 19 defense.  I do not know how well they will work together, but it will be fun.  I think The Question with his outwit/perplex and Count Vertigo with his 3 person Incap might allow me to control the pace of the game.  Night Crawler picking up figures and bringing them to Doomsday for a good old fashion beating.  We will have a video review of both teams soon, and a brief summary of the days tournament.

Thanks for reading.

Superman sealed event results

The team I played for the tournament was 200 point Black Adam and the 99 point Maxwell Lord. Black Adam in my opinion should be played at the 300 or 100 point level. the 200 point level is only good if you have the right support for him.

If you have 300 points and you need a one man army, try Superman or Black Adam from the new Superman Heroclix set.  Either one is a powerhouse and tomorrow we will look at them both.

Another reason why I cannot wait until this set is released

Now I must add this to my list of WANTS from the new Superman Set that is due to be released on September 28th.  Stay tuned.

Monday, September 19, 2011

With superman so close, I thought I talk about some figures I'm most interested in. The top spot will have to be Black Adam. His ability to be played at three levels, combined with his sculpt easily gets him my number one spot. Then Project: Superman, with his cool hulking out dial. Last, but definitely not least,ERADICATOR!

Superman Cometh

With a little more then a week away.  The WANT list for this set is growing.
Might be easier to list figs that we don't want

Here is the check list poster.  Stay tuned for updates and possible a few videos

Results: W-0 L-3

My warrior team was out matched by stealth. The worst was the Batman Gotham team one of my opponents played. It was full of outwit, perplex and theme prob. My figures on their own are good, but don't work that well together. The MVP on my team was Noh-Varr. Noh-Varr did most of the damage for the team. The least useful piece was the Punisher. He was unable to do anything after he moved, he couldn't shoot and couldn't outwit stealthy figures.

I would play each figure again, but not on the same team. they each have a specific role on their own team. Wolverine leads the Horsemen of Apocalypse, Elsa takes care of monsters with Nextwave, Noh-Varr deals big damage on the Dark Avengers, and Punisher provides support for the Marvel Knights.

September ht
400 point modern age theme tournament.
Results: W-1 L-2

Posion Ivy/Harley Quinn

Faced another Gotham City team and was "Out Stealthed"  Poison Ivy was a fun character to play,  as I expected.  I parked Deadshot on an object.  My opponent destroyed the object out from under him and proceeded to KO him in one turn.

Lesson learned, Keep Deadshot in HINDERING terrain.

2nd match was against the Warrior team listed here and that was a WIN

3rd match was against Next Wave team.  Map choice was very bad for the both of us, but was very interesting to play on a map with no usable hindering terrain, lots of hallways.  Will do a review of that map soon.

3 new Video reviews.

400 point Modern THEME required
This is the first week of the blog and my theme team is warrior.

A personal favorite of mine, like all wolverines, this piece is deadly! The only flaw is the huge target following this guy.
Give up useless keywords for a +1 to attack all dial? YES PLEASE! his trait throws theme prob out the window, but a 12 attack up front will make up for that.

Elsa in one word is this... COLOSSAL KILLER. She is the answer to the mindless one swarms.

SI Punisher is one cool clix. He has an awesome special, great sculpt, and he is good anywhere on his dial. He can make two separate attacks in one turn, outwit later, and blades or range combat expert near death for some major damage.

I'll report on how they do in the upcoming tournament soon.
Gotham City Theme 400 points
  • Two-Face
On the fence about usefulness, stealth and perplex is always a good combo.

  • Hitman
Interesting figure, fun Sharpshooter with a few clicks of stealth to keep him hiddenNice special power
"GUNS BLAZING: Give Hitman a power action. He makes two separate ranged combat attacks as free actions (making two separate attack rolls against two different target opposing characters). Resolve the first attack before making the second; if he loses Guns Blazing before making the second attack, he can't make the second attack."
  • Deadshot
Excellent click, I have used him many times and if you can keep him healthy, he will provide a lot of heart ache for your opponent
  • Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy
I really want to like this figure, love the sculpt and hope I can use them to there fullest potential.  There is a lot of powers and special abilities, but have to be very aware of surroundings

400 Point Modern THEME required

This is the first week of the blog and will have my team as Gothem City Theme and Andrew's team is Warrior.
